Outside the BP garage on the A6

BP garage 2The County Council has put a lot more red paint on the road outside the BP garage (heading south to the Boot and Shoe crossroads).  Hopefully this is reducing the number of cyclist casualties at this nasty spot. (See previous item here.)

Or how about the Police enforcing the bike lane and double yellow lines restrictions and stopping Spar wagons parking and obscuring the entrance and exit to the garage?

  2. Simon Wright says:

    OK, that’s great.

The Spar lorries are parked on the path, over double yellow lines, and in the bike line 3-4 mornings a week around 07:30 on my commute from Warton to the University Campus. Such parking obscures the exit from the garage making an already dangerous junction for all road users significantly more dangerous. I have tried to explain my concerns to the lorry drivers but they aren’t interested. Some of the drivers have also said that the large lorries cannot fit onto the garage forecourt so they have no option but to park on the road. I did suggest deliveries could be made with a smaller vehicle but this was ignored. As this is persistent behaviour by the delivery drivers I think that Lancaster Police should start to warn and then start to fine drivers who park so dangerously.
