Sustainable transport talk

From the Celebrating Cycling newsletter:

John Whitelegg: Sustainable Transport – Doing a Freiburg

7.15pm Tuesday, 8 February, Gregson Centre, Lancaster

In Freiburg, in southern Germany (population 240,000), 30 years of consistent planning and political decision making have created one of the finest cities in Europe with a high quality built environment, a strong sustainable economy, a 40% reduction target for CO2 by 2030 and world class new residential developments.

Transport conditions are a world away from Lancaster: 27% of all trips every day by bike, 23% on foot, 18% by public transport and 32% by car. How did they do it and how can we do it?
